GTK+ 2 on OS X(10.4)...

Posted by Steve Longdo Wed, 14 Jun 2006 06:46:00 GMT

Is there a way using DarwinPorts or something for me to get GTK+ 2 setup on Tiger? Do I need to install the GNOME port and then the GTK+ 2 port? It is late and my tiredness and Google are combining to make me an unhappy developer.

Many thanks await anyone who can help. If you are going to be at RailsConf 2006 I imagine you could receive some sort of payment in beer or other edible item of your choice from me in person :-)

UPDATE: I've had a question about why do I need to do this. I would like to mess around with the Ruby-GNOME bindings. That is the short answer. The long answer is that once a simple installation defeats me I must resolve it with a successful install.

I should clarify too, answers don't have to be DarwinPorts related. I'm not afraid to do ./configure/make/make install dance with all of the dependencies if necessary...

I'm probably not going to be President...

It has only recently occurred to me that I am probably not going to be the President. Which is kind of a weird thought to have. Parents in the US always talk about how their children can grow up to be anything they want, "even the President". I think that is what causes so many Americans to not know what they want to be when they grow up. Parents should just set a lower limit on expectations for their children. "Hey little Billy, you might be able to wind up in a mid-level management job when you grow up."

As for me, there is a 99.99% probability that I'm not going to be President.

I've been busy doing Java work. Nothing interesting enough to post about, but keeping me busy enough to not have time to post about something more interesting. Like the fact that I am going to make it out to RailsConf 2006. Rock!
